1960s British teak vintage sideboard with Vodder style drawers
We’ve had this stylish sideboard only once before and that was 5 or 6 years ago so it’s not a model that comes up for sale often . Neither this or the previous one were labelled , and nor have we found it in any of large and growing collection of vintage catalogues . We assume its by one of the smaller makers who were still in business in the early 1960s . From our research and experience these smaller companies gradually disappeared in the 1960s due to competition from larger branded makers .
It looks as if there are 5 drawers , but there are only 3 . The sought after Danish designer Arne Vodder is well known for the use of this type of drawer design , but over time it was used by other Scandinavian designers as well as occasionally by others like in this example . The sliding doors combined with these lovely central drawers give it a nice clean look .
We’ve given it a clean and then oiled it and it’s now looking great with no obvious marks .
It’s 199cms long , 72.5cms high and 46cms deep
