1960’s Dalescraft 6ft heavy teak bench style of Torbjorn Afdal
We go out of our way to buy these lovely stylish low benches which were made in this size and a shorter 4ft version . We’ve sold a few over the last 5 years . The first one we found had a great small chest of drawers that sat on the top , and another came with cushions . Unfortunately we’ve never seen another of the chests , but our upholsterer can make cushions .
This one is in lovely vintage condition . There is some shaping to the ends which is different from all the others we’ve had , but if it has been altered it was a long time ago . The edges and feet are solid teak , but the top is just veneered . We can clean and oil it for an extra charge , but we think it looks fine the way it is .
Dalescraft were a small up-market maker of furniture . In the 1960’s the owner/designer Malcolm David Walker often used Scandinavian designs as the basis for their pieces . This one is labelled , but not all are .
We currently also have a 4ft version which is much more faded in colour .
6ft is 183cms , its 42cms wide and 34cms high
