1960s vintage Greaves + Thomas teak sideboard in good vintage condition . Although it’s not labelled , we’ve had variations of this model before that are .
Greaves + Thomas of London are probably best known for their sofa beds and put-u-up sofas , but they also made some very nice quality dining furniture to a similar standard and presumably price to G Plan and McIntosh .
We do have a 1966 catalogue , but this model wasn’t shown , and we’d guess that it dates to c 1962-64 .
Greaves + Thomas were taken over by Schreiber in c 1968 , and gradually the name disappeared . This sideboard dates to the first half of the 1960s when Greaves + Thomas were known as a good quality maker . Like a few of their rivals the late 1960s proved tough for more expensive makes , and when Schreiber took over standards soon dropped to enable them to compete in a market where prices needed to be very competitive .
It’s in good vintage condition with no heat or water marks to the top , and no really bad scratches . You do have to expect some signs of wear after some 50 years of use , but there is nothing that we can show in a photograph .
Dimensions: 219.5 cms long ,45 deep and 77.5 ht
