1960s A Younger teak Codan dressing table designed by John J Herbert MSIA . Fully cleaned and re-polished as it was looking a little tired when we bought it with a few minor marks . Now restored it looks as good as it would have done when first delivered in the mid 1960s .
The Codan range is illustrated in the 1964 A Younger catalogue we have , but was taken out of production in around 1967/8 when they rationalised their various ranges to reduce costs .
A Younger were a premium brand in the 1960s , and their pieces from pre-1968 are always beautifully made , with stylish and costly detailing . Prior to 1968 their pieces were more expensive and better quality than G Plan standard pieces , but their post 1968 ranges were probably on the same level as the much larger G Plan brand .
The mirror on this lovely model is particularly stylish so it would be a shame to remove it and sell it as a desk , as many are today .
