1970s Remploy teak telephone seat or table
Remploy were a British company who in the 1950s ,60s and 70s made small pieces of furniture like this amongst other things . As part of a government scheme they trained disabled people in all kinds of trades and produced and sold a number of well made pieces like this one .
Our upholsterer has re-upholstered the seat in a Camira Blazer fabric , and it now looks really smart .
The handle design is very similar to one used by Turnidge of London which in turn was based on a 1960s Danish design attributed to Kai Kristiansen .
Seat height 47cms , table height 62cms .
