2 Early 1960s Mogens Kold teak chests of drawers
We bought these lovely chests from photographs and could see that they were really good quality. Our judgement was confirmed when we saw them in the flesh and spotted the Mogens Kold disc labels which as so often was the case was almost hidden underneath. Mogens Kold like France & Son seemed to have specialised in selling to the UK market in the 1960’s and these actual chest of drawers were retailed through a Glasgow shop. This quality Danish makers furniture was mainly sold through Heals of London and top provincial retailers.
They had a few minor marks on them when we bought them but as with all good quality 1960’s teak they restore well when you know what you are doing, light clean and oil and they are brought back their original glow. Now all you need to do is keep them fresh by using a natural beeswax spray occasionally. No obvious scratches or marks just the very small minor signs of wear that you have to expect after some nearly 60 years of careful use.
Unlike more standard Danish chests of drawers that you’ll find regularly the legs are fixed and the construction is what you’d expect from one of Denmark’s most respected makers of the time.
Tall chest £875 , shorter chest £675 , or together at £1400.
