Elton Furniture long teak sideboard by Terence Poole 1965
Elton Furniture of Ruabon in Wales was a small company who until around 1964 were making more traditional oak and elm furniture . You may find 1 other sideboard model and a cocktail trolley by them if you make a Google search , but that’s all we can find online . However our researches at The British Library found this very model illustrated in The Cabinet Maker in early 1965 with a short article about their move into contemporary furniture . We’re just about to publish a blog !
This lovely sleek design is the larger 4 door version at 7ft foot in length ( 213cms ) . It isn’t labelled , but it’s identical to the 1 illustrated in The Cabinet Maker . They also made a shorter 3 door version at 5ft 6 ” long , and a labelled one came up for sale on Ebay recently . In the Cabinet Maker its described as Burma teak finish .
This one came to us in fair vintage condition , and all it needed was a light clean , and it’s now looking great . There are no obvious marks or scratches just the very minor signs of use that you have to expect after over 50 years of careful use .
Its 213.5cms long , 47 deep and 73 high .
