Late 1950s small British sofa for re-upholstery 132cms
Unknown maker but good quality frame and construction it’s well worth investing in the re-upholstery. A smart shape and as small as you’ll find for a 2 seater sofa. The legs are a stained beech but could easily be ebonised. Of similar quality to Howard Keith who used to offer ebonised legs as an option in the 1950’s.
This two seat mid century sofa can be purchased as seen but with no seat cushions, the ones on the photograph are for example only. This would be for upholstery by your own upholsterer.
Alternatively we can restore and upholster for you here in your choice of fabric. The sofa fully restored and finished in a linen/cotton fabric for example would cost £1200. Break down of costs as follows.
The labour and upholstery materials, ie foams, fire retardant barrier where needed, new seat cushions and sundries would cost £600 including VAT. This does not include the top fabric which would be your choice and would need overall 6 meters of fabric, this can be in two colours as in the original with the seat cushions and the outside back been in a contrast colour. An example of the cost of 6 meters of fabric from our suppliers are 100% pure new melton wool £330, good quality cotton velvet £360 or a linen and cotton mix plain £225, we can provide fabric samples direct to you of your choices. We are happy to upholster in your own fabric as long as it is suitable for upholstery.
There is a lot of work involved in getting this small sofa back to its former glory, however we think it will be worth it as its nice quality and a great little shape, the high back and nice shaped arms all adding to its character.
