Late 1960’s Austinsuite teak double continental headboard newly upholstered
In the 1960’s it was usual to have combined headboards and bedside tables , but today many of the side tables/drawers get removed and placed on legs . We thought this was really smart and useful as it was apart from it having black vinyl upholstery which was looking tired and wouldn’t meet current Fire Regulations . Our upholsterer has re-upholstered it in a lovely Moon wool fabric with a retro vibe to the pattern and colour .
The teak is in lovely vintage condition . It has 2 lights in the top , one of which was working . We will replace the standard fluorescent tubes which are available online or currently at B + Q . Unlike other continental headboards it doesn’t need to be fitted to a bed as it’s freestanding on a metal base as you’ll see .
It’s a total of 231.5cms in length and will take a large double mattress as the space between the drawers is just over 5ft at 153cms
