Late 1960s G Plan teak and glass hexagonal coffee table Victor Wilkins design .
Victor Wilkins designed an amazing number of different coffee tables and side tables for G Plan in the late 1960s and early 1970s . This model appeared c 1968 , and was produced into the early 1970s . By 1974 it was no longer in their catalogue . In the 1969 catalogue it was priced at £21 as was the circular ” astro ” coffee table . This in today’s money is around £335 ! Interestingly when the current owners of the G Plan name produced a much less stylish and poorer version of the astro tables around 12-15 years ago , they were priced at around £350 . In comparison the original late 1960s were far superior in every respect , and would probably have to cost around £500-£700 if made in the UK today to the original standards .
A really practical design with its glass inset top and black melamine lower shelf . Ideal for bottles , jugs , coffee pots , as well as for storing books or magazines .
This model was later joined by a smaller lamp table version with all teak top .
In good vintage condition , no obvious marks , no bad scratches to the original glass or melamine .
