Late 1960s Meredew teak 8 drawer double chest by Peter Liley
We’ve just written a blog about this range and 2 associated ranges which were all launched in early 1969 . The previously unknown Peter Liley is mentioned as the designer of all 3 ranges in the Spring 1969 Meredew catalogue we have . There were 4 different models of chests in the range which was imaginatively called ” New Teak Bedroom ” ! We bought this one and another of the same size but different layout together recently .
Both chests are 132cms wide , 71cms high and just under 46cms deep ( plus a little more for projecting handles ) . The short legs on this chest unscrew . It’s been cleaned and oiled , but there is one obvious scratch to the top and also some to the right hand side . These are shown in the photos . We have taken this into account in our pricing of this lovely chest .
Not only would it look good in a bedroom , but it’s a perfect height to stand a TV or a music system , so could work in a living room also .
Both this and the other chest we have are priced at £650 , but we can sell both for £1175 .
