Merrow Associates rosewood table and 6 chrome chairs by Richard Young c1970
This lovely table has a great figure to the veneer . It’s currently in good vintage condition, but we will be giving it a light clean and polish in the next week, so just ask for further photos and we’ll send some if they haven’t already been added!
The chairs have been fully re-upholstered in a grey wool fabric by Abraham Moon ( TBC ) by our in-house upholsterer. She’s used new foam so along with the shaped back they’re extremely comfortable. The bases are “bright polished chromium plate steel ” which is in great vintage condition with no obvious pitting, but maybe the odd scratch if you look extremely closely.
As you’ll see only 4 chairs will slot into the table, but it’s of a size that will take 6 place settings. The table didn’t come with these chairs, but did come with 6 Cesca chairs. The table is 137cms in diameter and the legs are removable for ease of transport.
Merrow Associates furniture was very expensive when new. The only prices we have found were in a 1971 Heals catalogue where the chairs were priced at £36.30 each which in today’s terms is £575 taking inflation into account. A similarly sized glass Merrow table on chrome base would have cost you £185 which is now just under £3000! Rosewood would have cost more than glass obviously.
