Rare Cees Braakman Japan series teak cocktail cabinet by Pastoe
You don’t see much Cees Braakman cabinet furniture in the UK as it was probably too adventurous and different when it was made in the 1950s and 1960s .
The Dutch firm of Pastoe under Braakman’s direction was a ground-breaking company using plywood to produce some stylish and forward looking pieces in the early 1950s . He also used perforated metal for detailing sometimes . His Japan series with its black metal handles , legs and detailing dates to the late 1950s and early 1960s . It’s highly sought after today .
We couldn’t find this exact cabinet on a google search , but there were a number of variants of this model as well as sideboards etc . This lovely piece is in teak , and has an interesting bent plywood drawer construction . We have further photos available .
It’s been cleaned and oiled as it was a little dirty after over 50 years of use . You must expect to see minor signs of wear , but there is no obvious damage or marks .
Its 74cms wide , 45cms deep and 117cms high
