Rare pair of 1960’s Toothill dark teak high back armchairs. This pair of Toothill armchairs have new quality foam cushions which complies with fire regulations and have new zipped cushions in a hard wearing chenille fabric from Kirby Design in a dark grey called Anthracite which is an accurate description of the colour.
Extra covers can be made in your own choice of fabric for £100 and you would need to provide 3.5 meters of fabric.
We’ve currently got a pair of the low back version of this chair as well as a single one and have had the low backed ones before. This high back model isn’t shown in the 1964 Toothill catalogue that we’ve seen and is much more difficult to come across. Usually high backed versions of similar chairs can look less interesting than the low backed ones but we think that these look really quirky and smart as well as offering greater support and comfort than the standard models.
One of the photos show this pair with the usual low back chair which is available separately as a single chair at £375 including upholstery excluding the fabric.
Toothill used dark teak or afromosia for their sofas and chairs in the 1960’s and although probably less well known than some of their competitors their quality is really good .
