Robert Heritage Hamilton chair for Archie Shine
We’ve re-upholstered a single chair with a teak base in a lovely bright yellow Melton wool from Abraham Moon to show what these wonderfully comfortable chairs can look like when re-done .
As you’ll see from the stripped chair they’re really nicely made . This model was made by Archie Shine in the 1960s in both teak and rosewood , and sometimes you’ll also find the higher backed carver version . At the time dralon was particularly popular for upholstery in the UK , but we think it doesn’t do justice to these chairs . Today there are far more choices available , and in numerous colours so you can choose a neutral grey or cream or be bold .
Our upholsterer has slightly changed the original upholstery to give this chair a sharper smarter look . As they have upholstered backs as well as seats they’re exceedingly comfortable .
We had 3 sets of these in original vintage upholstery , but they’ve now sold so we have this single chair which would make a nice desk chair or side chair on its own .
