Scarce G Plan quadrille teak gentleman’s small wardrobe

The quadrille range was designed by Victor Wilkins and introduced in 1965 . This small wardrobe doesn’t turn up very often and isn’t shown in the 3 G Plan annual catalogues which cover the period when quadrille was being made ( 1965-circa 1969 ) . In 1968 G Plan introduced the Fresco range for both bedrooms and dining rooms , and this proved so successful that other ranges were soon withdrawn . Quadrille is much more elegant , but as it’s on legs it doesn’t use the space as well as the more practical Fresco . It’s the first quadrille wardrobe we’ve had in some 8 years of selling G Plan on a regular basis , whereas the Fresco wardrobes come up frequently .

It’s teak veneered with rosewood finished projecting handles to give a nice contrast . Sometimes the rosewood veneer to the handles isn’t very obvious , but in this case it is . It’s in good vintage condition and has been well looked after by it’s previous owner who probably had it since new . There is one small mark to the top and some very minor knocks to the edges . Our price includes a clean and oil , and the mark will be removed , but you may still see very minor signs of wear if you look extremely closely , but you have to expect this after some 50 years of use .

It came with the dressing chest which is shown in 1 of the photos , which is being listed separately and is in need of a clean and polish as there are a few marks and it’s obviously been in a window and has some fading . We do have the original mirror for the dressing chest , but find many are now used as small sideboards etc . The dressing chest is the largest of the 3 that were designed for this range , and one that we haven’t had for 3 or 4 years .

The wardrobe is 90cms wide 137cms high and 46cms deep .
