Set of 6 Danish teak chairs by Norgaard in Moller style
The well-known Danish maker J.L.Moller produced a number of lovely dining chair designs one of the simplest being the Model 75 . Two British companies produced versions of the 75 in the 1960s , A Younger and Dalescraft , and we have sets of both , but now we have a Danish version by the little known company Norgaard . When placed together its a good challenge to spot the differences in the models . The Moller ones were the most expensive , and when seen together you can see why . We’d expect the Norgaard ones to have been next in cost with the British ones a step behind . Today the Moller ones are at least twice the price of the Norgaard and British ones all of which are much easier to re-upholster than the Moller ones , so they offer great value if you don’t mind not having the name .
We bought this set south of London from the original owner who has had them since c 1970 or perhaps earlier . They came with a Dalescraft sideboard of Danish style which dates to 1962-65 and a Brahmin Danish table which was stamped Jan 1970 . All had been bought new from Heals of London .
Although well used , they have been well looked after and are in good vintage condition . All the joints are sound , but the original vinyl seats are worn . We’re selling them at an “as is ” price , but our upholsterer would charge £90 plus fabric ( 2 metres ) . The teak is in good vintage condition but if you wanted them lightly cleaned and oiled we can quote for this .
