Small Aksel Kjersgaard 1960s oak mirror
The quality Danish maker Aksel Kjersgaard of Odder is one of the few medium sized makers still producing today , but unlike Moller their designs are continually changing . Pieces like this were only produced for a few years .
In the 1960s they used well known designers such as Kai Kristiansen , but many designs such as this one are unattributed as yet . In recent years their Mid-Century pieces have become increasingly sought after which is not surprising since they are beautifully made with lovely subtle detailing .
This mirror frame design like a lot of good Danish Mid-Century design shows an evolution from Arts and Crafts pieces from previous generations .
The Danish Furniture Control mark is found only on pieces from the 1960s and very early 1970s . It was only used by certain makers , but it’s appearance on any piece helps confirm actually dating when it does .
In lovely vintage condition throughout .
