Smart unusual British teak and cane lamp table 1960’s
Unlike any other mid-century teak side table that we’ve seen in the last 15 years . It’s probably by a small maker such as Desmond Sawyer who specialised in cane stools , racks and other small furniture . If you search for Desmond Sawyer very little comes up , but we’ve had a stylish wine rack by him which still had his label attached . Makers like him would sell from small independent retailers or from shops like Heals .
We loved the mix of teak , cane and metal hairpin legs . Much copied today hairpin legs like these were used occasionally on progressive pieces in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s .
Not cheap , but really stylish and different from other pieces of the period you’re unlikely to find another .
It’s a lovely size at 70.5cmsx 49cms , height is 44cms .
