Stylish 1960s Meredew teak sideboard 170cms
Meredew were one of the larger makers of contemporary furniture in the 1960s and 1970s . Of similar quality and price to the larger G Plan , many of their pieces are not that exciting , but now and again they came up with some really stylish and distinctive designs like this lovely model . They sometimes used outside designers such as Robert Heritage , but mainly used in-house people .
This is a rarely seen model , and with it’s bow front form and recessed handles it was maybe too radical for Meredew as it’s a design that deserves to have sold in larger numbers at the time .
We’ve given it a light clean and polish and it looks really nice , and has received many an admiring glance from visitors to the warehouse who saw it before it was photographed . Unfortunately none of them were looking for a sideboard !
It has a particularly nice figure to the teak which not all pieces we find have .
