Swedish String teak wall system by Nisse Strinning dated 1963
Nils ” Nisse ” Strinning designed the basic system of uprights with shelves in 1949 for a competition which he won . It’s still being made today , and there are plenty of basic shelf systems around , but larger ones with cabinets like this lovely set are rarely seen . The cabinets are definitely an early 1960s design , and would probably only be on sale then and perhaps into the early 1970s . We’ve found a stamped date for April 1963 on one of the shelves which also have the original String labels attached .
It’s in good vintage condition with the odd very small knock to a corner and some minor marks . We can clean it for an extra charge if required , but think it looks nice “as is ” so have currently decided to leave it and offer it in vintage condition although there is 1 cigarette burn mark to the top of a cabinet which can’t be removed . The original plastic keys are in lovely condition . The supports are a greeny grey colour which is original to this set .
It’s 238cms wide , 213cms high and 30cms deep .
