Troeds of Sweden rosewood dining table and 6 chairs by Nils Jonsson
Dating to the late 1960’s we bought this lovely table and chairs from the family of the original owners in northern Scotland . We also have the sideboard that was bought with it , but this needs cleaning and re-polishing . The table is in good vintage condition with no obvious marks or bad scratches , but as is usually the case the leaves are darker as they have only been used when needed so are less faded . The chair joints are all sound , but a couple of the chairs have small nicks to the original vintage vinyl upholstery .
It’s unusual to find carvers of this model . They were quite a bit more expensive when new , so not many people bought them . The chairs are solid rosewood , but as with 98% of pieces the table top is just veneered . It can all be re-polished , but it’s a time taking job so adds quite a lot to the price .
The table has removable legs for easy transport and storage as with most Scandinavian tables . Unusually the legs are teak and the top rosewood , but so are many of this model so it was a design feature . The table starts out as a small oval of 155cms x 100cms max and each of the 2 leaves adds 55cms . It’s a comfortable 8 seater when extended and less comfortable 10 .
If you want the chairs re-upholstered our upholsterer can quote for this and the amount of fabric that will be needed .
