Unusual G Plan lilac and white chest of drawers c 1960
This model was produced from about 1958 -1961 with various finishes . In tola with either black or white finish to the legs etc it would have cost you £25 11 shillings , but in this Chinese white with either lavender , yellow , grey or light oak it would have cost you £26 17 shillings . Using an historic inflation calculator this would be a whopping £618 in today’s terms ! Good quality furniture wasn’t cheap back in the day , but then finding this quality today is only available to those with very deep pockets . We’ve seen the lilac and Chinese white occasionally over the years , and also all the other finishes apart from the yellow and white . Chinese white has a slight greenish tone to it .
Its a lovely size at 96cms wide , 78.5cms high and 47cms deep . There are some minor chips and marks to the finish , and the brass caps are missing from the back legs ( not really noticeable ) and this has been taken into account in our price of only £100 .
As with all G Plan furniture of this age the quality of manufacture and detailing is excellent .
