A Younger late 1960s teak Sequence single leaf dining table + 4 chairs
This is the smaller of the Younger rectangular dining tables from the Sequence Range introduced in 1968 . It starts at 145cms x by 93.5cms , and the leaf adds 46cms . So its a 6/8 seat table , 6 comfortably when un-extended and even more comfortably with the leaf in place .
It came with 4 Younger Moller style dining chairs with original black vinyl upholstery , which like the table are in good vintage condition . Alternatively we do have a set of 6 Younger chairs of the same design which includes a pair of carver chairs with arms , which need a good clean and need re-upholstery as the vinyl seats are worn in places .
The table is in good vintage condition and doesn’t seem to have had a great deal of use . Table on it’s own £400 . Set 4 chairs separately £300 . As set £650 .
We have an A Younger 1968 catalogue which illustrates the various models , but unfortunately it didn’t include a price list , although somebody has hand written a price of £56 for the larger table which in today’s money is around £965 . At a guess that would place the smaller table at around £750-£800 without chairs , which would have cost around the same amount as the table for 4 at the time . As this doesn’t take into account the relatively higher costs of properly trained craftsman this makes quality 1960s British teak furniture great value today .
The Sequence Range was designed by Younger’s long serving chief designed John Herbert and his then new assistant Allan Pledge .
